Our trip to the Lions Bridge was a very unique experience, I had never been there before that day and I wasn't sure what to expect. When we pulled up to the bridge I was shocked, I had been at school for almost two months and had no idea this beautiful place was right down the road. As we started the tour with Professor Redick, we admired a statue of a man trying to tame a horse and beneath it was figures representing humanity. We stopped to look at different trees and plants that were along the path. We came across a branch that had fallen from a nearby tree, it had turned black from the lack of nutrients it received. To me this symbolized the journey one takes when they become disconnected from God. One becomes lost, lacking the strength it needs to live a full, content life. As we walked further we came across a root sticking out of the ground, it was covered in thorns. Professor Redick called this plant the 'Devils Walking Stick' and said you wouldn't want to grab onto it if you fell. I took this literally. When you fall in life you have to make sure that you are grabbing on to the right form of support, for me that is Jesus Christ. When we walked right next to the water I spotted a herring perched on the bank of the river. Redick had been so interested in the small things like plants and trees so I was excited to share this with him. As I pointed it out everyone turned to look at the tall bird on the water. When we finished the short tour we were allowed to go off on our own to have our own experiences of nature. Me and a few friends decided to try and spot some turtles at the bridge. I personally have a connection with turtles because they remind me of my mom. We never saw any turtles but the experience was one I wont soon forget. I took a lot of pictures on my camera as the sun set, some of the best ive ever taken. In that moment I was very thankful to have the opportunity to capture Gods creation with my camera, even though it would never do it justice.
