The phenomenology of prayer

Prayer as the posture of the de-centered self.
This was one of the topics that we had on our midterm and it was especially interesting to me for a few reasons. The aspect of a de-centered self was very interesting because it was a different way of thinking and living then how most people go about. Not wanting something for yourself is different than most people pray. Like the child i mostly believed that prayer was asking for things. It was a selfish act that was such like a child asking for christmas presents. This passage made me rethink how i viewed prayer and made me see how prayer is meant to be.
