Personal Blog #2

My best friend and I both went to the same Catholic school.  I would always accept the teachings that were taught but my friend was always skeptical.  Back then he would believed the core Catholic teachings like the story of Jesus and the existence of a God but he didn't believe how the church acted towards premarital sex and the LGBT community.  In high school I would start to have the same thoughts he had but he started doubting the basic teachings of Catholicism to the point that he was criticizing and making fun of the core teachings.  For example he thought that the Virgin Mary was impregnated by someone and then just said that God gave her the baby.  He also started trying to rationalize the existence in a God by making challenges like if a God exists, God would need to strike him down.  I am okay with his beliefs but I would hate to live in a world where even there was no God or afterlife.  God and an afterlife just makes it feel like life isn't small and life doesn't end after you die.
