Personal choice #3

Trail names has been something that i learned about during this class that i had no idea existed until i took this class. When Dr. Redick first brought up the idea of a trail names i honestly thought it was pretty strange the idea of nicknames was something I never really thought was cool but the trail names grew on me the more it was brought up in class. I think having a nickname that is earned by something that you did or participated in on the trail is kind of cool. It also adds to the idea that these people are separating from their normal everyday lives and are plunging into this new life on the trail. Anonymity i don't think is the reason behind the names as most people probably go by their real names at first but want to sort of reinvent themselves on the trail. It also most likely adds to the camaraderie of the trail by giving other people trail names.
