Personal choice #4
One of the things about the long distance hiking that i think draws a lot of people to do it is the fact that you have goals that are achievable every day. Your day is so structured and your entire day is devoted to that structure and achieving a goal of hiking a certain amount that day. I think that most people, myself included like structure and consistency in their day. When you have a goal every day and every day you achieve that goal it is a good feeling every night before you go to bed. I think this is part of what drives people into the post hike depression that many suffer. They go from having so much structure and every minute of every day being structured too a lot of free time and they don't know what to do with all that time.
