Image and Pilgrimage #2

I found the medieval pilgrimages interesting.  With some of these pilgrimages, they were primarily based on people having visions or other spiritual events.  Now a days when most people hear about visions and spiritual events, they dismiss the idea of these being real and just something made up.  Also due to the fact that now a days people can hear and see events minutes after they happen due to the internet, the would be no point of making a pilgrimage out to see it.  Also it is interesting that many groups of people would get rid of shrines and other important stuff for pilgrimages due to conflicts of interest.  Finally, it is interesting to ponder whether pilgrimages would help a city thrive due to a somewhat stable source of people needing food, water, and shelter on a cyclical rotation.
