Post Grad ideas?
I’ve grown up in an era where young people are dying to get up and go, move, and do something with their lives. Often I come to a word “wanderlust” that pretty accurately sums up the desire in may of my peers eyes. People seem to have this impulse to wander or travel and explore the world. But where does this come from? At the same time there is an innate desire in many of us to sit back and dig roots into the ground, to have a family, and to make oneself known. With traveling, this doesn’t seem quite possible. Among tourists, sociologists distinguish wanderlust as a motivating force of movement, people in their eyes, desire to engage with different cultural experiences. Perhaps part of this comes from the day and age many of us have grown up with in the technological age. We have grown accustomed to seeing others lives online and many of us now are yearning to experience it in another dimension. However this wanderlust reflects an urge for self-development by experiencing the unknown, confronting unforeseen challenges, and getting to know unfamiliar cultures. I am particularly interested in what this wanderlust may be leading to. Some say this desire to up and go may be leading to a “mindful” people. Many are seeing for themselves new sights and experiencing new cultures that open their minds. I see benefits in this lifestyle, but it requires people to respect and treat these places with a sense of longevity and sustainability.
