Prayer #2

The idea that the one way of prayer is Kenosis which reflects in many religions.  By giving up food, money and other needs, one is devoting themselves to God.  When someone gives up everything, they will become nothing that will be filled by God.  Monks and priests do this in Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and many other religions.  As a Catholic, I only get a little taste of Kenosis during Lent when we have to give something up and not eat meat on Fridays.  The idea of Kenosis being a successful way to pray is the fact that it is very similar to empathy.  Empathy involves a person not having some feeling or emotion but witnesses someone else's emotion or feeling, and then experiences it.  In the context of God and Kenosis, when we go through Kenosis, God has more of a connection with us due to Empathy.
