Spirit Home: Pilgrimages Website
This blog is focusing on one action people often experience
or participate in on a pilgrimage. When I came across this article, I quickly
became interested in this topic and the connection made by the author of this
article. The author described that a circular motion around the wide-area of
the sacred site is often typical. The author pointed out that the different
ethnicities could determine this circular motion of walking for a few different
reasons. This action could be a ceremonial dance for Native Americans, a
worship service for Catholics, or a prayer or emotional walk for Protestants.
The big idea here is that the circular walking reminds the pilgrim that their
life revolves around God and that he should be the center of our world. He also
speculated that they surround others who love and worship the Lord
participating in their devotion of circulating the area. I thought that this
was interesting because of most of the time when I am moved touched by
something the Lord has done I become silent and observe the people around me. I
tend to notice how they are experiencing this connection with their Lord. I
realize how big and magnificent the Lord is and has been in my life. This self-
reflection of mine starts out silent with a more inward worshiping and acknowledging
and then moves to the external components driving me to get down on my knees or
walk around and pray.
